I like to change it up for breakfast and wanted to surprise the kids with homemade waffles. This recipe was really good and my daughter woke up the next day asking for more!
Clean Eating Whole Wheat Chocolate Chips Waffles
Makes about 8 waffles on my Cuisinart waffle maker
Ingredients
- 1 3/4 Cups of Whole Wheat Flour
- 2 Cups of Almond Milk (Or Coconut Milk, Cow’s Milk, really any milk is fine)
- 2 Egg Whites
- 1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
- 2 Teaspoons Cinnamon
- 1 Teaspoon Baking Powder
- 2 Tablespoons Honey
Directions
1. Turn on the waffle iron and let it heat up (or I used a silicone waffle maker from Epicure). Place all ingredients in a bowl.
2. Whisk the ingredients until they are blended smooth.
3. Once the waffle iron is heated up, spray non-stick spray on it if its needed. Then, generously pour the waffle batter on the iron (or in the silicone waffle maker).
4. Close the waffle maker up and let them cook - usually takes about 5 minutes. If using a silicone waffle maker it took about 15 minutes to cook at 375.
You can top the waffles with fruits or maple syrup. Enjoy!
